Splashtop Remote remote-desktop software allows users to connect to and control computers from various devices, such as a personal computer, iPad, iPhone, or Android device. Unlike products using the Remote Desktop Protocol, Splashtop Remote uses a proprietary protocol capable of delivering real-time video and audio to the remote user at 60+ frames per seconds and low latency. Splashtop has over 30 million users, and many device makers such as Acer, Asus, Dell, Epson, HP, Lenovo, Panasonic, Sharp, Sony, Toshiba, and others are bundling Splashtop with their devices.

Functionality

Splashtop Remote Desktop maps the screen of the mobile device to the screen of the remote computer, so that users can interact with the remote computer using intuitive touch-to-click controls and zoom in using the pinch gesture. Gestures are used to replace mouse and keyboard controls. For example, a two-finger drag gesture is used to scroll within windows, generally mapping to the mouse wheel controller. iPhone or iPad native software keyboard, modified to include special keys, such as Ctrl, Alt, or Delete, is used for text input.

The product can establish connections between devices connected to a variety of networks, such as Wi-Fi, 3G, or 4G - no proximity between devices is required.
